My work will always touch these things; Theatre, television, film and literature. This site helps you to get closer to my three worlds; Florence Masebe... my art. Nyamuthenga Heritage Foundation... my dedication to my culture and the heritage of the people of Venda. Masakona Matsila Children's Foundation... my contribution to the lives of vulnerable rural children in the name of my angel and ancestor, my late son HRH Masakona Matsila. May his beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
Our heritage matters:
Committed to keeping Venda arts and heritage alive.
Song, Dance, Handcraft....
Empowering rural communities to discover the wealth in their cultural heritage. putting rural destinations on the tourism map. Renewing interest in heritage art among rural communities. Creating new spaces for art and traditional crafts. Fostering new channels to get young villagers interested in heritage matters.
Traditional song and dance:
We endeavour to create programs and projects that will bring the song and dance of the vhaVenda to the centre stage of the South African performance art and heritage scene. This will be done through competitions, festivals, traditional carnivals and mainstream theatrical productions.
Visual art and Craft:
The strength of Venda art remains unquestionable, with a solid history of world renowned vhaVenda artists having paved the way. eg. Churchill Madzivhandila, Nelson Mukhuba, Noria Mabasa... to name but a few. The clay and the wood craftsmanship of the vhaVenda.
Storytelling and Language resources;
Our stories, told by our people, in our own language.
A Language that does not get used will not grow. In fact it will die. Our programmes will ensure participation in language preservation and development through literature and audio visual productions. From fiction to documentary, the Foundation's film resource unit will create the biggest and most diverse database of heritage footage for use in film, television and academic research.
